Loop

An unresolved question or promise opened early and closed late.

A loop is the same concept as an open loop but specifically describes the structural unit. Videos that retain well tend to operate on 3–7 active loops at any given time.

Loops can be macro (the central question of the video) or micro (a 30-second tension).

Closing every loop is essential; unclosed loops feel like broken promises and depress next-video CTR.

Why it matters

Loop discipline is the most underrated skill in long-form retention. Channels that master loops sustain higher AVD across all templates.

How to improve it

  • 01Diagram every long-form video as a loop chart before recording.
  • 02Open at least one macro loop and 2–4 micro loops per video.
  • 03Close all loops before the outro.
